Our long division
unit continues...most students are really rising to this challenging part of 5th
grade math! We are now dividing decimal dividends. Challenge your student by having him/her
practice just one problem at home each day, such as
45.15/21 14.95/65 75.9/22 97.58/3
Checking their
answers is part of the process, so students know and should be able to
demonstrate to you that they check answers by multiplying the divisor by the
quotient and getting the same number as the dividend in the division
problem.
Continue to “quiz”
the math facts, especially multiplication. Subtraction is also very useful to
review.
Thank you for sending
in more glue sticks and Expo markers! We could still use some more. Thank you
for all the food samples for our “fat test” in science! It was a great success! Our next experiment
requires cereal samples. If your child brings home a plastic baggie, would you
please send it back, labeled, with ½ cup of cereal?
Thank you!
As always, feel free to contact me with questions or concerns.
