4th and 5th grade at Mulberry

4th graders have been working on a unit called, "Lost Colony." We are looking at the possibilities of what happened to the lost colony at Roanoke Island. We have discussed and read information, and now the students will apply their knowledge and incorporate their opinions into a writing assignment.

What really did happen?

5th graders are currently reading the novel, Flush. We are also doing some research on water quality, and beginning a problem based unit called, "Mystery River." In this fictional town, the population of mussels in the local river has dramatically decreased, and students have to figure out why.

In conjunction with this unit, we will be taking a field trip next Thursday to the Mississippi River, and then to the Discovery Center, where we will talk about water quality, and do some water testing on samples. A permission slip was sent home this week.
