Week 19

I handed back the Unit Test on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 – if you haven’t seen it yet, you need to ask your student to show it to you. This was part of 2nd quarter’s grades.  Also, for some reason, none of my comments appeared on your child’s report card when it was printed. If you have concerns or questions, feel free to contact me.

We are starting our module on FRACTIONS! We had visitors last week in our morning math class, educators from across Muscatine and with the Area Education Association to see math learning in progress. I’m very proud of the students and how far they’ve come in making sense of problems, working through “stuck points,” and finding multiple pathways to find answers.

We will be persevering through fractions for quite some time. Please, any chance you see to use fractions in a real world sense, point it out to your child. Bake cookies together, for example, doubling the recipe.

In science, students have learned about sugar this week!  Don’t be surprised if they offer to add sucrose to your coffee, or fructose for your toast. J
I hope to have grades for the Daily Doses of Nutrition (science) by the end of next week.

As always, please contact me with any questions or concerns!
