Third grade is an important year for identification of Gifted/Talented students. Data from the kindergarten, first, second, and the first half of third grade is considered regarding identification, including, but not limited to teacher observations and recommendations, test results from achievement tests (Iowa Assessments, MAP, chapter tests), and the Cognitive Ability Test. Students are often identified in one area of strength, such as mathematics or reading/language arts.
Beginning this week, the 3rd grade G/T math students are starting a unit called, "Sir Face." We will be exploring geometry in a fun, hands-on way. Students will be making castles and learning about medieval times, too.
