Ask your middle school GT student about his or her Passion Project. We have an Edmodo page set up with links, videos, ideas, and more, to discuss our projects.
When students are all caught up in regular classes, and teachers are ok with them exploring their passion, students are encouraged to learn more about a topic. Some students want to learn how to program, some are researching history, some are exploring different cultures, and even I am doing a project.
In December, we will come together with the GT students from Central Middle School and have a "Passion Project Unveiled" day at the board office. Students will take what they've learned and put it together into a presentation. All this should be done AT SCHOOL, but if they want to learn more outside of school, that is their prerogative.
