Science Homework

Students have learned so much the past few weeks! They’ve really persevered and are getting good at justifying their answers in both math and science.

The next two weeks, students have homework every night. Please see the “Goin’ Moon Gazing” handout.  Students need to look in the sky every afternoon or evening and make observations of the Moon, then write down and draw what they saw.  This will be done over two weeks (even Christmas week), and the paper is due Monday, January 4th, when we return to school. There is a nice website that has the moonrise and moonset time:  http://www.timeanddate.com/moon/usa/davenport

While you are on your computer, here is another handy website for parents to check what essential skills in 5th grade (and other grades if you have more children) look like:  milestones.greatkids.org

Again, if you have concerns or questions, please contact me.

Have a wonderful Christmas!
