January Wrap Up

I handed back the Science Test on Wednesday, January 27 – if you haven’t seen it yet, please ask your student to show it to you. They all did remarkably well!  We are finishing up our unit on the Solar System by studying stars and constellations.  In a week or two we’ll conclude with a unit test over all four investigations.  Students have done a nice job of using their science notebooks to take notes, working together in groups, and even following Steve Kelly, the astronaut living in the International Space Station!

We are still working with FRACTIONS! We had visitors this week in our morning math classes to see math learning in progress. I’m very proud of the students and how far they’ve come in making sense of problems, working through “stuck points,” and finding multiple pathways to find answers. This weekend I sent home a homework paper of multiplying non-unit fractions.  Below are a few examples of what we have been learning in this module:

Valentine’s Day Party
Our Valentine's Day party will be Friday, February 12, from 2:15 to 2:55 pm.  The party committee is responsible for bringing the snacks and organizing the games.  We will have a Valentine's Box contest for most creative box.  Students are to make these creations at home (make it a fun family activity!) and bring them February 12.

As always, if you have questions or concerns, please contact me.
