October update

From Mulberry 5^th Grade Teachers

Parents,

Please see the following:

·      Module 2 Math “Tip Sheet” for parents – how to help and understand what your child is learning during this unit

·      ELA Home Letter – what we’ll be focusing on next week in reading and how you can help your child

Reminders

·      Book orders are due soon!

Equipment

·      Students must have earphones for the different programs we use on our computers.  Please purchase a pair if your child does not have a pair.

·      Students use “skinny” Expo markers every day, and by now, most have already used up their first marker.  Walmart is now restocked with the fine and ultra fine 4-pack black Expo markers.  Please consult with your child whether he or she needs more.  Mrs. Steele has a few more in her stock she can sell for $1 a piece.

Party Committees

·      Each homeroom has party committees for the following celebrations: Fall, Winter, Valentine’s, End of the Year.  Fifth grade students do all the planning for each party with minimal help from parents.  You will get more information as we approach the party dates (October 31^st is our Fall party).

Coming Soon

·      Parent-Teacher Conferences the week of October 24^th

·      Open House style for 5^th grade – this allows you to see student work in all 3 classrooms and touch base with all 3 teachers

·      More information about both will be coming home with students soon!
