We are working through a unit called "Questions."
Within this unit we have been reading Because of Winn Dixie, mostly outside of class. Reading can occur during the general ed class time, after all other work has been completed, and your student is looking for something to do. Reading can happen at home, too. In general, we decided we should probably have finished the book by October 13th.
We have also been doing some writing in response to great questions. We will continue to do that as we learn about Socrates and the Socratic method of learning.
In addition (no pun intending), we have been exploring the games on www.sumdog.com. Students have login information and can play the math games at home and sometimes at school during free time. I have access to the data on sumdog for all my students and can see which problems consistently give them problems. This has been a fun website to challenge our math skills!
